VERDITE (South Africa).  Mid to dark green colour, variegated.  A soft stone (hardness between 3 & 4 on Moh's scale)

though it might be a bit hard for hand carving.  Rough blocks of irregular shape up to approximately 25kg.  Also sawn into smaller blocks.
