MEXICAN COCONUTS (Choyas Nodules). 

Of the two halves shown below, the first has good blue colour and nice banding throughout.  The second has blue banding

around a solid quartz centre.  Both have taken an excellent polish and would make really nice display pieces.

I've now cut a few of these and they do vary.  I've so far had 4 that are similar to those in the photograph, one that was

the same blue colour but is of little use due to inclusions, and one that is a strange orange/brown with a cavity lined with small crystals.

So it seems that there's a 60% chance of getting two useful halves.

Each nodule is approximately 3 inches in diameter and weighs around a pound.                                                              £4.50/lb,  £9.80/Kg
